No. The converter extracts text structure — headings, paragraphs, lists, tables and links. Embedded images are not exported, so you will need to add them to the Markdown yourself.
Only if the PDF contains real text. A scanned page is just an image, so there is nothing to extract. Run it through OCR first, then convert.
